Something a Little Different...

This card is definitely a lot different than the cards I usually make and I'm on the fence about it.

My card base is Soft Suede scored on top. I then layered textured Crushed Curry Cardstock over top. I added a Soft Suede Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon overtop. I made my pumpkin by punching out three large ovals out of, you guessed it, Pumpkin Pie! I sponged around the outside edges with Soft Suede Ink to add dimension) I hand cut a little stem from Chocolate Chip and then cut a very thin sliver of Old Olive Cardstock from a scrap I had...(the sliver was so thin it natural curled itself to form my vine.)

Using my Little Leaves Sizzlet and my Big Shot I cut my leaves from Old Olive, Soft Suede, Pumpkin Pie, and Dusty Durango. I cut apart all but the Old Olive leaves to make it look like fall with leaves on the ground, my Old Olive branches I left whole and glued to the top of the page.

I'd really love your feedback on this card, it was way outside my comfort zone.

Oh! And don't forget about this month's Card Kit of the Month! I've had more orders than expected so I will fill them as they come in, 10 at a time so you could get your kit earlier than the 20th.

Feelin' Dusty!

Can you tell I love some Dusty Durango? Its funny, when the new In Colors came out I didn't immediately embrace them, and I certainly didn't see myself falling in love with Dusty Durango's burnt orange color. But once I saw them in person and began to "play" I find myself more and more turning to it. It is so rich and saturated. This card is super simple but elegant.

I began by stamping my image from Razzle Dazzle in Dusty Durango on Whisper White cardstock to make my background pattern. (You'll notice that I do this a lot!) I tied a Dusty Durango Polka Dot Grosgrain ribbon around the patterned piece and matted this on Dusty Durango cardstock and adhered it to my card base. (Hint: a standard card base is 5.5 by 4.25"; this is easily made by cutting an 8.5 by 11" piece of cardstock in half on the long side and folding in half. Your card made with these dimensions will then fit perfectly into an A2 envelope!)

My sentiment is from the Very Versatile set, from last Spring's Mini Catalog. I didn't realize it wasn't current until after I made the card, sorry! If I was to make it again I would probably use Teeny Tiny Wishes for my sentiment. I punched out the "Thank You" with the large Oval Punch and matted it on a Scallop Oval in, you guessed it, Dusty Durango! This was placed over my ribbon using Stampin' Dimensionals and I was finished. A super easy, super cute card!
